When your child is struggling, it can be challenging to find the answers you need. For the past 30+ years, I’ve been advising parents and students to find and implement solutions that work. As a school psychologist, my approach is calm, informed, and strategic. I will help you forge a better understanding of what your child needs and we will work collaboratively with your school team to put that plan into action.

Are you ready to help your child succeed in school and beyond?

ASSESSMENT

My assessment process is in-depth which allows me to understand your child well and help you answer the questions you are facing. I develop a deep understanding of your child’s needs and also their strengths. Your knowledge about your child is invaluable to the process and I work with your child as well, to ensure that their input is included.

COLLABORATION

When we meet with school teams, I take a collaborative approach. I am dedicated to building a strong bridge between families and education professionals. Even if your past attempts to communicate with teachers and administrators have been unsuccessful or may even have gotten heated, I’m able to find a common ground quickly so we can create a positive path forward.

PROBLEM-SOLVING

It helps to have an expert involved when there are complex problems to solve for your child. There is so much information to understand about your child’s development and learning style, and parenting strategies that are specific to your child’s needs. I am experienced with students from PreK through college-age and am well versed in best practices. I can find the solution that will make a difference and help you put that solution in place. Thinking outside the box is one of my strongest skills.

COACHING

You need the right plan for your student’s needs—that’s a given. My services go a step further by helping kids understand and develop as learners so they can participate in their plans and grow with them. I also teach parents effective ways to support their kids—what to do and what to avoid—to quell the chaos and improve communication.

When students get the right support tailored to their needs, they succeed and thrive.

Hi there, I’m Nancy Taylor and I’ve spent more than 30 years working for students in Connecticut and New York metro schools as a certified school psychologist, school administrator, and special education advocate. I’ve helped thousands of families and students of all disability areas and grade levels at every kind of school across urban, suburban, and rural school districts as well as at private, charter, therapeutic day and residential schools.

My professional background gives me an edge when it comes to bridging the gap between families and schools. I know how schools work and can speak their language which helps my clients avoid an uphill battle when it comes to understanding their rights and navigating school policies, processes, and practices.

I use my skills as a school psychologist to decode the underlying issues contributing to your child’s difficulties with school. Together, we’ll navigate the complicated processes and jargon and calm the tangled emotions you are feeling. I’ll help you explore new perspectives and possibilities founded in the clinical and educational data that should be driving the decisions made by you and the school.

“Nancy was able to wade through a complicated maze of cognitive test results, probe further with her own testing when needed, and translate this data into realistic school-based interventions.”

The help that Nancy has provided for our daughter has been absolutely life-changing and we couldn’t have had such positive results without her. Nancy takes the time to understand what a child needs and knows how to advocate for the right services. It helped a great deal that she explained it all to us in terms we could understand. Our daughter is advancing in a way we didn’t think possible, and we owe it all to Nancy Taylor. There are no words to express just how thankful we are that we picked up that phone and called Nancy two years ago.
Nancy has a wonderful way of listening—not just to a parent or a referring clinician—but also to the school team and, most importantly, each child. Her experience as a school psychologist informs every aspect of her advocacy so that students’ accommodations and individualized education programs help align expectations with abilities. Moreover, her recommendations are always driven by practical concerns of whether a program is realistic: both authentic to a student’s real-world context as well as flexible and practical.
My son has struggled for years with attention and academic issues. After his recent psychological evaluation, my husband and I felt completely overwhelmed by new diagnoses and a long list of recommendations. It was our good fortune to be referred to Nancy Taylor. Nancy helped educate us, sort through and prioritize which recommendations to implement first, and provided invaluable preparation and support for 504 and PPT meetings with the school team that ultimately led to a solid in-school support plan for our son.

While my clients are happy to share their stories, I’m sensitive to protecting their rights and putting their needs first.
I am dedicated to my clients and respect their privacy.
